John Cubbin is a microeconomist who has worked as a professor of economics at City University, London and UMIST (now part of the University of Manchester) and has also held academic posts at Warwick University, Queen Mary London and London Business School, as well as being a former Associate director of Nera, the economic consultancy. Now retired from City University, he is a member of the UK Competition Commission, which carries out merger and market investigations, and regulatory appeals.
His research has been mainly in the economics of market dynamics and performance, and he has carried out number of consultancy commissions in the fields of regulation, performance, and competition policy.
